The "Race to end Alzheimer's" In memory of Otto Timms is coming Oct. 29th. Race,Swap,Show AND how about an awesome reunion to add , read below for word from FaceBook...

Tammy Kirk- Richie - I've been trying to get together a Dallas reunion for a while now. I miss my racing family/friends and I would love to have at least one day a year for us all to put down our differences and come together to race, just hang out and have fun. The wonderful folks up at Calhoun have been kind enough to allow us to join in with a wonderful thing that they have going in memory of ...Mr. Otto. He passed away earlier this year and now they're doing a charity race for him. I'd like to do this once a year (preferably sometime in September instead of October) Hopefully while we're up there this year...I can get together with them and come up with some ideas for a really big reunion next year. I would appreciate it if you would pass the word around to anyone who used to race at Dallas to let them know about the race this year, or anybody who would just like to come for that matter...it's for a wonderful cause! Here are the details...and they said that the gates open at 7 so that the venders can start setting up...Gates open to spectators, racers, show cars at 9am and racing gets going around 11am.

2nd Annual, Race,Swap and Show. Come and join us for Swap Meet, Car Show and Drag Racing. In Memory of Otto Timms. Come and join us for a great day to raise money to find a cure for Alzheimer's.All monies raised will toward "Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Oct. 29th 2011
500 Chatsworth Hwy 225
Calhoun Ga.

Please pass it around to all you know who might be interested! Thanks!

just back a week ago, after runing the maxton mile, a land speed race event held at a world war 11 airport. lee timms and his mother let me come up last spring on a saturday when the track was closed, where i made 7 or 8 passes with lee bravely riding with me to observe and attest to my ability to control the vehicle, my reflexes etc. i needed a letter verifying same to go along with my entry application, because i am recovering from a serious heart attack and stroke year before last at which time and for over a year, i could not sit up, walk, or care for myself. too shorten the storey i ran the maxton mile, with my fastest run at 126.5 mph in a 5400 pound, 2003 ss chevy truck. i was only 1.7 mph from breaking the track record for class c/pp but i was so thankful to just be there and to be able to make a safe and sucessful run down the track. i have kept in touch with mrs. timms and lee every since my trip to the track last spring. i only regret i was a few months late from meeting mr. timms. i will be at the dragstrip tomorow morning and if i knew i would not get in the way i am tempted to race my truck. by the way, i was a regular at the dallas dragstrip from around 1969 to 1973, running a variety of cars, corvettes, a 1965 ss impala, a 1970 challenger rt magnum. my claim to fame was all of, i think 1972, i ran a 1969 plymouth gtx for key and mcburnet dodge and plymouth of tallapoosa. i ran at first one of the stock classes and then moved onto modified production. my brother says i ran in the high 11's in the 1/4 mile and we drove the car to the track, slowly. very much looking forward to tomorow to celebrate a man, a family and a legacy. garrell, hotrodtruck

hey redvega: i ran pretty regularly at dallas from around 1968 to 1973, i ran a yellow ss impala in a stock class and also in stock a red 1963 corvette convertible. i ran several other cars a few times, a new 1970 dodge challenger rt magnum, a 1967 ss 427 impala, but i drove a pale yellow 1969 plymouth satellite with a 440 ci. engine in a stock class for key and mcburnet dodge in tallapoosa, ga. in a stock class. then headers, a radical cam, a tunnel ram intake and a cold can were added and i ran in a modified production class. the car was never lettered, but each week they would repair or try to improve the car. i also ran the car at, i think yellow river and green valley. i have some trophies from dallas, they have a wood base and an orange or reddish vertical member and wodd on top with a car. i am in the process of trying to run down the plymouth body now, we know the 440 was pulled when the car was sold. as a result of a heart attack followed in two weeks by three strokes i totally lost my memory. i am going by pictures and information from my younger brother. any help filling in the blanks would be appreciated. i was at the show and go on saturday and ran my 2003 SS silverado truck and i will be at the reunion unles i go back and run the maxton mile where i was only 1.7 mph from breaking the 4 yr. old track record in c/pp last month. thanks g patterson

Overall ...it will be set up like a Show-N-Go , but there is word of something being set up for the racers. Maybe like a gamblers race or grudge race challenges. It's still in planning.

Hey G Paterson, I think I ran you once at Dallas in my D m/p 55 chevy. I later installen a stright axel front end and bigger rear slicks, went to f/g. I began to break axles with full power runs and started to loose intrest in drag racing. Kids you know! I plan on bringing my super pro car...1973 Vega to the race on the 29th. Hope to see you there. is there somwhere at the reunion that people will meete and share stories, pictures etc. if so and someone could tell me where i would appreciate it. i planed on being there until having lunch with my wife last thursday after i saw a doctor about a new problem that i am having, where she said why don't you go back in two weeks and run the "maxton mile" and try to break the record for your class, if you know something you can do to run two mph faster! does anyone know what i can do quickly and economicaly to a 5340 lb. ss silverado truck to make it 2 mph faster? already have a cold air induction system, a hypertech high performance tuneup, a flowmaster exhaust and a tonno cover. someone told me after i got back from maxton last month that 48 lbs. of air in each tire right before i run would pick up the 2 mph without any other change. any believers, but i would need something else to assure i could break the record. when i made the near record breaking run last month it was 85 degrees, it will probably be 75 0r less at the end of oct. how much would that improve the power and speed of a chevy ls type engine. thanks g patterson
